📋 Description

• Determine whether statutory violations occurred in agency-investigated cases • Review investigative reports for legal sufficiency • Prepare determinations and other legal documents for review and approval by the Chief Legal Counsel and/or Executive Director • Work with investigations managers to improve work products and revise investigative reports according to legal criteria • Respond promptly and thoroughly to investigations inquiries, including researching and discussing legal case issues with investigators • Conduct legal research related to case investigations and reports • Complete research and other assignments directed by the Attorney Supervisor • Review case files and recommended orders from the Division of Administrative Hearings and draft proposed final orders for commissioner approval • Respond to agency staff, complaint parties, and the general public regarding legal issues involving employment discrimination, retaliation, public accommodations, whistle-blower retaliation, and fair housing

🎯 Requirements

• Admission to The Florida Bar and membership in good standing • One year of professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, teaching law, or administrative or judicial hearings • Knowledge of rules of evidence, investigative techniques, court procedures, and requirements • Ability to use deductive reasoning, communicate effectively, and make detailed verbal presentations • Ability to collect and analyze evidence, maintain strict confidentiality, and make independent decisions • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments • Ability to analyze information and determine its validity • Ability to conduct fact-finding interviews and take statements • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships • Required current resume, cover letter, and 2–5 page writing sample • Must successfully pass a level two background screening, including fingerprinting and an FBI criminal-history check • Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, must meet Selective Service registration or exemption requirements • Attorney in good standing with the Florida Bar
