📋 Description

• Assist the Housing Investigation Unit by summarizing investigation documents and additional documentation received • Upload summaries and documents to ActionStep and the HUD Enforcement Management System (HEMS) • Notify investigators when summaries are completed • Counsel and provide information to the public about alleged housing discrimination • Advise complainants, respondents, and representatives about applicable law, agency jurisdiction, procedures, and rules • Provide case status updates to incoming callers • Conduct thorough fact-finding and analyze evidence • Prepare comprehensive investigative reports within established timeframes • Contribute to legally sound determinations and recommendations • Recommend innovative methods to improve agency and personal efficiency and effectiveness • Collaborate with unit members to accomplish unit goals

🎯 Requirements

• Knowledge of basic investigations techniques, rules of evidence, court procedures and requirements • Skilled in using logic and reasoning • Skilled in utilizing techniques of active listening • Ability to conduct fact-finding interviews and take statements • Ability to use deductive reasoning • Ability to analyze information and determine its validity • Ability to write accurate investigation reports and present detailed verbal presentations • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality • Ability to make independent decisions • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing • Ability to establish and maintain a productive working relationship with others • Five years of experience in legal or paralegal work, investigative work, human relations, human resources, regulatory inspections, social work, personnel, education, counseling, affirmative action (AA), equal employment opportunity (EEO), or juvenile/adult criminal justice system work; OR a bachelor’s degree and one year of such experience • Experience with Fair Housing or Employment Investigations preferred • Successful completion of a level two, fingerprint-based background screening • Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, must meet Selective Service registration or exemption requirements • Candidates must provide required work history details in the candidate profile • Veterans’ Preference documentation is required when claiming preference
