• Lead NILC and NILC Immigrant Justice Fund through strategic growth and high-impact advocacy • Partner with the EVP of Advocacy and senior leadership to translate organizational vision into integrated advocacy strategies, campaigns, and implementation plans • Develop workflow structures and cross-departmental alignment initiatives • Provide leadership for organizational strategy, growth, and long-term sustainability • Lead strategic planning and adaptive, integrated strategy across multiple departments • Convert priorities into quarterly and annual plans, milestones, and decision frameworks • Support development and implementation of C3/C4 strategy and programming • Monitor strategic goals and provide analysis, recommendations, and reporting to executive leadership • Build and maintain internal and external coalitions at the intersection of immigration and democracy • Lead cross-functional teams and manage consultants, vendors, and external partners • Represent the organization in high-level strategic discussions and decision-making forums • Maintain strategic frameworks and shared priorities across departments and leadership teams • Support rapid-response strategies and pivot programs as circumstances change • Support electoral strategy, issue campaigns, and partnerships work • Support fundraising strategy and execution across C3/C4 structures • Develop fundraising materials and donor communications • Build and maintain relationships with philanthropic partners and major donors • Coach staff and partner organizations on strategy integration • Improve and standardize internal systems, templates, processes, and workflows • Recruit, interview, hire, and train staff • Manage direct and indirect reports, including performance management and disciplinary matters • Foster collaboration, innovation, adaptive strategy, accountability, and staff development • Attend and participate in NILC meetings and support colleagues across teams • Perform other duties as assigned based on organizational need
• Advanced degree in relevant field (Political Science, Public Policy, Latin American Studies, or related) or significant and relevant experience working in strategic advocacy/nonprofit strategy • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit, advocacy, or political organizations • At least four (4) years of supervisory experience • Proven senior leadership and strategic expertise, with a track record of delivering measurable organizational outcomes • Extensive C4 advocacy and campaign expertise, with a proven ability to develop and execute effective advocacy strategies • Experience leading multi-issue coalitions and building alignment among diverse stakeholders • Commitment to NILC & IJF’s mission and to human rights, racial, economic and social justice, and equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice • Collaborative, proactive, and action-oriented working style • Sound judgment, high integrity, and respect for confidentiality • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to analyze, interpret, create, and update substantive written materials • Ability to engage in courageous conversations and make complex advocacy issues accessible to all audiences • Strong strategic ability to move daily tasks forward in alignment with organizational needs and goals • Expertise in managing projects in progressive movement organizations • Ability to develop strategy collaboratively in a mission-driven, culturally diverse organization • Ability to make difficult decisions regarding organizational positions, coalition decisions, and resource allocation • Ability to formulate clear strategy and plans for advocacy, partnerships, and campaigns • Knowledge of advocacy and how strategies and tactics play out in the advocacy space • Demonstrable success creating compelling proposals to secure grant funding • Ability to present complex programmatic information clearly and persuasively • Inclusive and responsive management style • Proficiency with MS Office, internet research, and virtual collaboration tools • Applicants must live in one of the listed remote work locations: Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Maryland, Montana, North Carolina, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Wisconsin • Up to 30% of overnight interstate travel may be required • Experience in immigration law or policy work strongly preferred • Experience in nonprofit organizations preferred • Proficiency in non-English languages spoken by specified communities preferred; fluency in more than one language desirable
