📋 Description

• Manage and administer daily operations for the Sanctuary Community Engagement portfolio • Support programs related to the designation of six national marine sanctuaries • Operationalize project work with Foundation staff and federal partners at NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries • Manage applications and review processes for Foundation grant and contract awards • Operationally manage and monitor federally funded projects and privately supported programs as the role grows • Troubleshoot program implementation issues • Track funds and develop and execute spending priorities for funded projects • Serve as point of contact for technical program managers and staff on program implementation • Communicate compliance and procurement guidance • Administer the Foundation’s project and award management database and track metrics and results • Build relationships and host check-in meetings with program managers and field liaisons • Identify cross-functional opportunities across internal departments and partner programs • Oversee competitive grant programs for policy, procedure, and strategic-plan compliance • Supervise procurement, logistics, administration, spend plans, and metrics for field activities • Serve as primary contact for grantees, contractors, and subrecipients • Track agreement details, compliance, risks, invoices, and field documentation • Work on organizational, departmental, and project-related special projects • Track and analyze reported results using a project management database • Support annual budgeting for funded projects • Recommend partnership and leadership opportunities to senior leadership • Conduct monitoring, site visits, video-conference check-ins, and internal document audits • Maintain current knowledge of OMB and agency-specific federal financial assistance procedures • Review and update federal award compliance guidance and procedures • Coordinate document collection and storage • Identify and implement technology, compliance, and procurement solutions • Convey processes and procedures to staff and partners • Supervise Foundation project employees working at partner agency locations • Build an inclusive work environment • Support SMARTIE goals, monitor progress, conduct performance evaluations, and approve travel, timecards, and time-off requests

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 3–5 years of experience in grant administration and/or project management, or 5 years minimum experience in lieu of degree • Experience working with grant programs • Experience with basic financial management, including developing and monitoring budgets and financial reports • Ability to work in a cross-functional team approach • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results with attention to detail • Personable in-person and phone demeanor • Diplomatic disposition balanced with ability to defend positions and policies • Fluency in Microsoft 365, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing • Experience producing reports and proposals • Must be located in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Texas, Washington, or Wisconsin • Preferred: Experience with federal financial assistance award Uniform Guidance compliance and procurement • Preferred: Experience managing database programs such as SmartSimple or Knack • Preferred: Intermediate-advanced Excel spreadsheet capabilities • Preferred: Familiarity with government partnership programs • Preferred: Sincere interest in and commitment to the organization’s mission • Resume, cover letter, and three professional references required
