• Build and develop relationships between the USDA Forest Service, NFF, and New Mexico field partners • Support on-the-ground restoration, recreation, and community engagement work • Support programs, projects, funds, and teams across the Lincoln and Gila National Forests • Develop scopes of work and budgets for projects and programs across Southern New Mexico • Conduct procurement, contracting, and granting processes • Oversee contractors, consultants, nonprofit organizations, and U.S. Forest Service implementation activities • Ensure projects meet USDA Forest Service criteria and needs and provide final project evaluations • Directly supervise employees on the Southwest team • Support methodologies and metrics to measure and communicate project benefits • Expand private- and public-sector supporters and partners through funding and partnership opportunities • Engage the public through community-based conservation initiatives and outreach campaigns • Monitor conservation programming trends, issues, policies, and innovations • Serve as the NFF point of contact for conservation and development activities in Southern New Mexico • Assist with broader NFF programs and diverse short-term projects • Develop materials for reports, newsletters, regional updates, social media, grants, and other communications • Manage administrative processes and track program and project budgets
• Undergraduate degree in a natural resources-related field or equivalent experience • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with proven results in conservation programming and related community-based collaborative conservation • Strong knowledge of and experience in USDA Forest Service policies, procedures, and regulations • Career experience in natural resource management, restoration, or program management • Strong understanding of New Mexico’s cultural history and natural resource issues • Demonstrated commitment to the environment • Must be authorized to work in the United States • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to collaboratively manage programs and evaluate outcomes against quantifiable measures of success • Ability to cultivate new donor relationships • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects and tasks • Ability to work flexibly in a team-oriented environment • Ability and willingness to travel frequently and work in outdoor environments • Excellent research and analytical skills with strong attention to detail • Valid U.S. Driver’s License • Reliable internet access and a dedicated workspace • Applications must include a cover letter and resume
