• Lead implementation of ecological monitoring plans for OMP restoration projects across Ohio • Develop scopes of work, requests for bids, and contracts for monitoring services • Work within monitoring budgets and support contractor selection and contract negotiations • Coordinate, oversee, and quality-assure contractors and consultants • Conduct regular site visits throughout Ohio to evaluate restoration project success and identify issues • Collect piezometer data, troubleshoot data loggers, and collect photographs at project monitoring points • Analyze monitoring data and prepare monitoring reports with Restoration Ecologists • Conduct field-based ecological assessments to support project planning, compliance, and adaptive management • Apply OMP operations, regulatory requirements, and performance standards to align monitoring with project and program goals • Collaborate with Restoration Ecologists to recommend adaptive management and corrective actions • Assist with limited restoration stewardship and adaptive management tasks, including spot spraying invasives and supplemental planting • Collaborate with OMP staff, TNC staff, the US Army Corps of Engineers, Ohio EPA, Ohio Interagency Review Team, and other organizations and individuals
• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years’ experience in natural resource management or similar field, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Technical writing experience • Experience completing tasks independently with respect to timelines • Experience communicating via written, spoken, and graphical means in English • Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, and web browsers • Experience managing staff, volunteers, or contractors • Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid driver’s license • Knowledge of land management conservation practice and conservation science • Experience with contract preparation, contractor oversight, and contract and budget management • Experience working within project budgets • Experience performing or interpreting, or willingness to learn, stream geomorphological surveys, stream biology surveys, wetland delineations, and vegetation assessments • Ability to identify Ohio’s common flora and fauna • Experience with invasive plant management and/or native forest restoration • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, ESRI GIS/Field Maps software, RiverMorph, and GPS • Compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program and completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, potentially including motor vehicle record review • Successful completion of The Nature Conservancy’s background screening process
