• Establish and build professional relationships with healthcare providers, medical experts, nurses, pharmacists, and other thought leaders across the assigned Michigan territory • Engage customers on emerging data, clinical trials, patient-journey barriers, market dynamics, unmet medical needs, pipeline topics, disease-state and product education, adverse events, and medical insights • Develop strategic territory vision, identify and map key stakeholders and key accounts, and plan medical engagements aligned with medical strategy • Identify partnership opportunities with academic centers, centers of excellence, and systems of care • Identify opportunities for HCP involvement in publications, clinical trials, and other medical activities • Collaborate internally with Novartis stakeholders to advance therapeutic-area, clinical, and product goals • Provide medical support for company-sponsored clinical trials and work cross-functionally with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations • Collaborate with HEOR, access, marketing, commercial, and sales colleagues while maintaining compliance and customer centricity • Serve as a medical resource by maintaining in-depth knowledge of the assigned therapeutic area and Novartis compounds • Maintain knowledge of internal policies, external regulations, travel and expense policies, and applicable laws • Complete administrative responsibilities and training, including Veeva CRM, email, voicemail, expense reports, and compliance modules • Profile core customers and maintain current CRM information • Champion emerging responsibilities as strategic priorities and territory needs evolve • Drive personal and professional development
• Graduate degree in science or healthcare required • Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, DNP, PharmD, etc.) preferred • Manager level: 0–3 years of experience in a Field Medical position within the pharmaceutical industry or as an MSL required • Associate Director level: 5–7 years of relevant medical affairs, clinical research, or related scientific or clinical experience required • Strong clinical knowledge of pharmacotherapy, treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, and medical expert engagement strategies • Knowledge of FDA promotional guidelines, regulations, and ethical guidelines applicable to the pharmaceutical industry • Compliance with Novartis policies, Ethics, Compliance and Promotional policies, and state and federal laws and regulations • Residence within the territory or within a reasonable daily commuting distance of 50 miles from the territory border • Approximately 60–70% travel required • Valid, fully valid, and unrestricted driver’s license required; driving is an essential function • Ability to successfully complete initial training, including home study, of eight or fewer hours per day and forty or fewer hours per week • Previous experience in the assigned or related therapeutic area preferred • Company will not sponsor visas for this position
