• Develop and drive business performance of the Rare Disease business unit • Lead a high-performing national field sales force across the Sickle Cell market • Develop, lead and execute sales strategies and initiatives focused on market awareness, market share, sales, revenue and profitability • Serve as a member of the Rare Disease Leadership Team • Build, hire and supervise the Sickle Cell Region Directors and Sales organization • Oversee the Commercial Execution team for Sickle Cell Disease • Lead the sales organization and ensure extraordinary field execution • Ensure key performance indicators are achieved or exceeded • Foster an inclusive, customer-centric culture and accountable organization • Oversee resource, system utilization and administrative policy adherence • Partner cross-functionally on commercial effectiveness and operations • Align sales force efforts with marketing strategies, key messages, training and pull-through activities • Assess sales organization training needs and implement solutions • Build an effective sales leadership team and winning culture • Develop external customer, community, healthcare provider and advocacy organization relationships • Develop the sales force vision aligned with Rare Disease business strategy • Identify market growth opportunities for current and new products • Ensure comprehensive business plans and tactics are developed and implemented • Ensure sales staff receive training, coaching and resources to meet targets • Ensure compliance regulations are understood and followed • Implement target lists, call planning and field organization performance metrics • Oversee sales planning and profitability targets • Monitor budgets, expenses and financial/ROI targets • Review and audit expense reports • Provide direction, inspiration and motivation to the Sickle Cell Sales team • Ensure reporting personnel have individual development plans, annual goals, measurements, learning plans and aspiration plans • Manage communication and application of Novo Nordisk policies, procedures and Novo Nordisk Way
• Bachelor’s Degree required • Minimum of 15 years of progressive pharmaceutical/healthcare sales experience required • Minimum of 6 years previous people management experience required • 3 years previous experience of Director level management required • Product launch experience required • MBA or advanced degree preferred • Orphan/Rare Disease or Specialty sales experience strongly preferred • Cross-functional experience in multiple areas strongly preferred • Experience in building new teams and organizational capabilities strongly preferred • 60-70% overnight travel required
