📋 Description

• Serve as a primary point of contact for students and families with questions about financial aid and funding their education • Counsel students through the financial aid process, from FAFSA completion through awarding and disbursement • Conduct individual appointments, workshops, phone calls, email communications, and virtual advising sessions • Build supportive relationships with students by listening to their questions, understanding their circumstances, and providing clear, timely guidance • Review and analyze financial aid applications to determine eligibility for federal, state, and institutional aid • Manage verification files, resolve discrepancies, and submit required corrections • Award and adjust financial aid packages in compliance with applicable regulations and university policies • Evaluate special and unusual circumstances with sound judgment, empathy, and attention to detail • Collaborate across departments to support enrollment, persistence, retention, and student satisfaction • Present at orientations, information sessions, and student forums • Support exit counseling for students who withdraw or graduate • Contribute to team initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, and university events

🎯 Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in financial aid, student advising, higher education, or a related student-facing environment • Experience working directly with students and families in a financial aid setting strongly preferred • Working knowledge of Title IV financial aid regulations • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to explain complex financial aid information clearly and compassionately • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Comfort working with data, calculations, and compliance requirements • Ability to exercise sound judgment in nuanced or sensitive situations • Service-oriented mindset with a genuine desire to help others succeed • Collaborative, accountable, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment • Strong attention to detail • Ability to manage multiple priorities while providing timely support to students
