• Provide accurate, efficient and timely donor referral services to tissue processors, referring hospitals, coroner offices and funeral homes • Coordinate donation of musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, ocular and birth tissue • Conduct comprehensive medical screenings and determine preliminary donor eligibility • Discuss donation options with potential donor families and complete consent/authorization and medical history questionnaires • Provide emotional support and information on the benefits of donation to grieving families and expectant mothers/mothers of newborns • Support tissue recovery logistics and facilitate acquisition/recovery of tissues and corneas • Provide customer service to callers, stakeholders and donor families • Communicate with tissue and ocular recovery staff, funeral homes, coroners/medical examiners, state police departments, first responders and hospital staff • Document all interactions according to established protocols • Review patients’ clinical courses and health histories using electronic medical records • Communicate with hospital nurses and physicians • Screen donor tissues with contracted tissue processors for approval • Use online databases and perform accurate real-time data entry • Make independent daily decisions regarding donor eligibility • Analyze and solve complex problems step-by-step • Complete continuous training and comply with quality systems and corporate compliance programs • Maintain regular and prompt attendance and uphold Nevada Donor Network’s mission and core values
• Successful completion of a healthcare technical or professional program with current certification such as Emergency Medical Technician, Critical Care Tech, Emergency Room Tech, Intermediate or Licensed Practical Nurse, or Hospital Corpsman • OR associate degree from an accredited college/university in a relevant Science major/program such as Biology, Chemistry, Social Work or Healthcare Administration • Bachelor’s degree preferred • One year of related work experience in organ, tissue or eye procurement may substitute for education • Understanding of disease processes and medical terminology • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and social media platforms • Minimal keyboarding/typing skills at 45 wpm • May require AATB certification as a Certified Tissue Banking Specialist within 3 years of employment • Must maintain AATB certification once achieved • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills • English language proficiency; a second language preferred • Ability to work shift work and occasional mandatory overtime • Ability to work in a quick decision-making environment with moderate to heavy workload • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Current certification maintenance may be required for AATB Certified Tissue Banking Specialist certification • Continuous training requirements to maintain proficiency and improve performance • 24/7 additional resources available if needed • Reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities • Fully remote work arrangement
