⢠Assist patients with billing inquiries face to face and through e-mail, fax, mail, and phone ⢠Review patient bills and collect liability for upcoming procedures ⢠Collect residual and past-due balances ⢠Review alternate benefit coverage options for medical and pharmaceutical services ⢠Secure authorizations and establish fee arrangements ⢠Provide coverage at other locations as needed ⢠Serve as liaison between patients, providers, external departments, and responsible parties ⢠Ensure charges are applied appropriately and transactions are accurately recorded and maintained ⢠Resolve account balances and discrepancies within prescribed periods ⢠Provide timely estimates for upcoming procedures ⢠Discuss patients' financial responsibility and educate them about assistance options and financial alternatives ⢠Deliver high-quality service and maintain patient satisfaction ⢠Resolve patient issues in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner ⢠Remain knowledgeable about applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards ⢠Report known or suspected unethical conduct and compliance, privacy, or safety concerns
⢠High School diploma or equivalent ⢠1 year of customer service, healthcare, or office experience ⢠Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information ⢠Effective verbal and written communication skills ⢠Proficiency with Windows-style applications (Word, Excel and Power Point), role-specific software, and keyboard ⢠Strong interpersonal skills ⢠Ability to multi-task ⢠Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment ⢠Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure/stressful situations involving patient financial and medical conversations ⢠Ability to work with minimal supervision and make independent decisions ⢠Reliable transportation, as travel to other facilities may be required ⢠Must comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
