• Serve as the privacy subject matter expert ensuring OhioHealth's compliance with applicable federal and state privacy laws, including HIPAA • Serve as the Privacy Officer for OhioHealthy • Respond to questions, concerns, and allegations of privacy-law and regulatory noncompliance • Communicate with patients, government officials, community members, and workforce members • Conduct and manage privacy investigations, including interviews, fact gathering, audit-log analysis, root-cause analysis, resolution coordination, documentation, and corrective action plans • Conduct and/or manage ePHI auditing using a machine-learning software tool • Develop and deliver privacy training, education, and awareness activities, including annual and initial workforce privacy education • Participate in risk assessments and develop and implement controls to mitigate privacy risk • Attend and actively participate in governance and other committees, representing the privacy team and providing guidance • Identify privacy risks and issues and help design solutions and risk-management strategies • Track, trend, and analyze privacy data and prepare reports for leadership and governance bodies • Write or edit applicable policies • Coordinate with Information Security, the Office of the General Counsel, Human Resources, and other departments • Perform other duties as requested by leadership
• Bachelor's Degree required in Business, Health Information Management, Law, or related field • Five (5) years of healthcare privacy or equivalent experience • Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certification in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS), or Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) required within first year of employment • Knowledge and experience in HIPAA and other privacy laws • Experience conducting investigations • Experience conducting electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI) auditing • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion • Ability to work independently and as part of inter- and intra-departmental teams • High degree of integrity and business judgment • Strong leadership, influencing, and relationship-building abilities • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration among diverse team members; develop individuals and teams through feedback and coaching, delegating, empowering, and removing obstacles • Six (6) years or more progressive related work experience or degree including five (5) years related healthcare work experience • Master's Degree preferred • ePHI auditing experience preferred
