📋 Description

• Independently manage, analyze, draft, negotiate, and execute complex industry-funded sponsored project agreements • Handle clinical trial, collaboration, investigator-initiated, sponsored research, master, and business associate agreements • Negotiate and draft contract terms while meeting University and sponsor requirements, mitigating risk, protecting research plans and intellectual property • Collaborate with CRSO, Collaborations and Entrepreneurship, OHSU Legal, Risk Management, ORIO, funders, sponsors, principal investigators, and departments • Ensure payment schedules, budgets, reporting requirements, termination schedules, and deliverables are complete, practicable, and policy-compliant • Translate program requirements into contract terms using applicable policies, laws, regulations, and guidelines • Verify internal prior approvals, compliance requirements, and subcontract institution documentation • Provide superior customer service and subject matter expertise to internal and external contacts across the institution • Communicate with sponsors on behalf of OHSU • Develop and maintain partnerships with IRB, CRSO, and other internal offices • Participate as a team member by assisting colleagues and sharing information • Provide leadership and training on internal processes and procedures, including training Contract Administrators and Contract Coordinators • Draft or modify policies, guidance, strategies, practices, contractual language, standard terms, clauses, templates, and master agreements • Contribute to external training initiatives, brown-bag sessions, and RAIN meetings • Serve as a resource for department staff and study teams • Stay current with OHSU, RDA, CRSO, ORIO, and OPAM policies and procedures • Participate in training, quality initiatives, procedural analysis, process improvement, and team building • Maintain proficiency with InfoEd, Cognos, eCRIS, OGA, IRB, IACUC, IBC, and Conflict of Interest in Research systems • Resolve issues creatively while maintaining compliance • Assist OPAM team members with sponsored project administration issues • Identify, evaluate, and develop more efficient and cost-effective processes • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree AND Five years of experience in federal and/or industry contract negotiation. OR equivalent combination of education and experience • Must possess or attain within 6 months of hire OHSU signature authority for the specified contract type within portfolio • Ability to train and mentor others on understanding and negotiating contract language • Ability to use independent professional judgment, take initiative, have a strong work ethic and express a positive attitude • Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships and maintain a high degree of professionalism with OHSU faculty, staff and external funding agencies • Demonstrated excellent analytical skills with the ability to understand and synthesize complex guidelines and regulatory requirements • Excellent communication skills, including interpreting, conveying, explaining, and upholding regulatory requirements and contract language • Ability to organize and prioritize work with emphasis on tracking for rapid status-check • Ability to adapt to new or changed electronic systems, processes, and in the absence of processes • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment with competing deadlines • Demonstrated ability to accurately comprehend and interpret medical and scientific terminology, concepts, and methodology • Ability to negotiate with multiple parties and reach mutually satisfactory results • Thorough understanding of budgeting principles and procedures • Ability to exercise diplomacy and handle highly confidential matters discreetly • Must include work experience on resume in months and years
