📋 Description

• Manage systems and operations for efficient coding of inpatient medical record information • Monitor ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM/PCS code assignments for inpatient and rehabilitation prospective payment systems • Monitor computerized medical record information systems, including IHIS and 3M Encoder • Serve as liaison and coordinator for special projects regarding medical-record coding • Train coders and monitor coder performance to assure accurate and compliant coding • Set daily priorities and monitor accounts not coded • Train and support coding specialists in assigning diagnosis and procedure codes • Determine MS-DRG and APR-DRG classifications for billing and statistical purposes • Monitor performance for compliance with policies, procedures, and billing rules • Interact with Department Administration, Department Managers, medical staff, and clinical operations

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in hospital-based coding, with experience in inpatient facility coding required • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Administration or equivalent preferred • Credentialed as a Registered Health Information Technician, Registered Health Information Administrator, or Certified Coding Specialist by the American Health Information Management Association • Experience with computer-assisted coding, coding automation, and revenue cycle analytics • Experience working collaboratively with Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI), Revenue Cycle, Patient Financial Services, physicians, and clinical departments • Maintains required competencies, certifications, and compliance training as applicable • Successful completion of a background check required for final candidates • A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process
