📋 Description

• Identify and abstract data from medical records pertaining to diagnosed cancer cases • Research appropriate sources to identify reportable cancer cases in compliance with OU Health, CoC, and OCCR • Abstract demographic, diagnosis identification, stage at diagnosis, first course of treatment, and follow-up information • Maintain abstracting timeliness as determined by the cancer committee • Complete at least one abstract per two hours on average • Maintain 95% abstracting accuracy • Work with the oncology registry team to improve processes, work methods, and procedures • Monitor daily workflow and assignments to ensure compliance with key performance indicators • Maintain confidentiality requirements • Maintain personal and professional growth through education, organization memberships, seminars, and other opportunities • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required • 3 or more years of experience in healthcare or healthcare informatics required • Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) issued by the National Cancer Registrars Association required within 24 months of hire • Knowledge of current American College of Surgeons' standards and requirements (CoC, NAPBC, and NAPRC) • Computer competency including Microsoft Office, EPIC, and CRStar • Advanced organization and time management skills • Advanced written and verbal communication • Advanced teamwork and collaboration abilities • Must live and work full-time in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Texas, or plan to relocate to one of these states before starting employment
