Pacific Impact Zone is a Honolulu-based organization that fast-tracks small and commercial dual-use technologies into the Indo‑Pacific defense market. Through programs called Mission Connector, Mission Zones, and Mission Bridge, they provide warm introductions to INDOPACOM/DoD customers, showcase innovations, and manage lengthy federal capture processes on behalf of mature small businesses to help them cross the “valley of death” into fielded defense contracts. They also run events, collaboration spaces, and provide hands-on guidance to founders (including veteran-owned businesses) to accelerate defense-relevant commercialization.

📋 Description

• Lead architecture execution across active defense programs from planning through delivery • Engage directly with mission partners, program offices, and industry stakeholders • Translate mission needs into actionable system and integration approaches • Drive progress in ambiguous environments and ensure delivery outcomes • Define modular system architectures, interface approaches, and integration strategies • Evaluate vendor solutions and technical claims • Translate open architecture principles, including MOSA and related frameworks, into practical implementation plans • Identify and close gaps between policy intent and real-world system execution • Capture and document architecture approaches, frameworks, and lessons learned • Contribute to internal platform development, including distributed manufacturing initiatives • Support development of repeatable models for open architecture implementation across programs

🎯 Requirements

• BS in Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) • Experience working on DoD or defense-adjacent systems or programs • Background in systems architecture, systems engineering, or systems integration • Demonstrated ability to own and deliver complex workstreams in ambiguous environments • Experience working across technical teams, program leadership, and external stakeholders • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts across audiences • Current Secret personnel security clearance eligibility, verifiable through the appropriate government system • Ability to maintain the required clearance eligibility and access • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship • Preferred: Experience with open architecture or modular systems (MOSA, OSA, FACE, SOSA, etc.) • Preferred: Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes or program office environments • Preferred: Experience supporting logistics, sustainment, or distributed systems • Preferred: Exposure to supply chain integration or manufacturing systems • Availability during core business hours of 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Hawaii Standard Time (HST) • Willingness to work in a fast-moving, undefined environment and document/share knowledge
