📋 Description

• Conduct on-site loss control surveys and virtual meetings for prospective and written commercial lines accounts • Analyze account operations, hazards, exposures and safety programs within a designated geographic territory • Complete reports and documentation to help underwriting staff determine risk viability • Visit account facilities and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs • Determine compliance with OSHA, NFPA, DOT, ANSI and state and local codes and requirements • Conduct agency visits to promote loss control services and initiatives • Provide loss control consulting and safety management recommendations to reduce, eliminate or control hazards and exposures • Conduct basic industrial hygiene and health surveys, including noise and ergonomic assessments • Provide on-site training as needed • Attend branch large loss meetings and other meetings requiring loss control expertise • Develop, submit and discuss recommendations with customers to improve conditions • Perform projects assigned by the Home Office Manager or Team Leader, including management of vendor loss control work within assigned territories • Collaborate directly with underwriting and claims personnel, agents and insureds

🎯 Requirements

• Candidate must reside within the designated Alabama territory, ideally in the Birmingham or Montgomery area • Bachelor’s degree, with a major in safety, science or engineering preferred • Continuing education through specialty courses such as ALCM and ARM and certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH or OHST preferred • Minimum of 1 year in property/casualty loss control, conducting loss control surveys and performing loss control consulting work on written accounts required • Proficient technical and professional knowledge of loss control/safety for commercial lines and programs • In-depth knowledge of operational practices for industrial, construction, institutional, commercial, educational and habitational occupancies • Good understanding of commercial insurance coverages • Good organizational and time management skills • Basic training and presentation skills • Good oral and written communication skills, including presenting complex information clearly • Excellent customer service skills • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills • Good PC skills, especially Microsoft Office Suite • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle • Must be able to travel, with overnight stays required • Must be able to maintain acceptable attendance and adhere to scheduled work hours • Must be able to perform physical activities including standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders and stairs, and navigating uneven or unpaved terrain • Must be able to complete computer-based tasks and access digital information • Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external clients and present information to individuals and groups
