• Handle a day-to-day caseload of line-of-business claims • Evaluate coverage, liability, and damages to resolve claims on reasonable terms and at an appropriate value • Communicate with policyholders, experts, counsel, brokers, TPAs, and other parties to determine exposure • Set reserves within authority or recommend reserve changes to supervisors • Evaluate claims and recommend claim resolution plans and strategies to management • Negotiate settlements • Retain, direct, and manage litigation counsel • Participate in and sometimes lead audits of third-party administrator partners • Respond to internal and external information requests from management, underwriting, actuarial, and other business partners • Provide customer service while adjusting casualty and property losses • Prepare timely and accurate reports to management regarding significant claim developments • Handle in-house casualty claims and oversee third-party administrator claims • Perform claims and coverage analysis, liability and damages analysis, reserve setting, reporting, reinsurance analysis and reporting, and travel • Support functional departments including marketing, risk management, finance, and actuarial • Perform other duties as assigned
• 5–8 years of relevant experience handling General Liability/Auto claims and Premises Liability claims • Degree of specialized and technical competence in casualty claims handling • Experience with Professional Lines claims is a plus • Proficiency interpreting and analyzing general liability policies, contracts, lease agreements, and risk transfer opportunities • Ability to multitask varied and significant matters • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Inclusive mindset and transparent communication style • Demonstrable ability to work autonomously, manage time, and drive progress • Experience collaborating across work groups • Working knowledge of industry best practices, procedures, and case law • Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials from various sources • Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills • Ability to deal professionally with customers and business partners • Ability to make prompt, intelligent decisions based on detailed analysis of complex issues • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment • Adjuster's License or willingness to pursue licensure within six months of hire
