📋 Description

• To support the Corporate Legal Affairs division of the Legal Department by assisting the General Counsel and providing legal advice on a wide range of corporate matters • Conducting legal research and analysis and providing legal advice and representation on various issues and affairs pertaining to the day-to-day operation of non-profit, tax-exempt organizations • Reviewing, revising, and drafting contracts • Advising supported organizations on and assisting them with federal, state, and local lobbying registration and reporting requirements • Reviewing and advising the organization and supported organizations about publication and audio/visual review including internet features, news releases, and audio-visual content • Providing legal advice on domestic and international data privacy and protection law requirements and assisting with the development and maintenance of compliance programs • Assisting with employment law matters • Maintaining and expanding the organization’s trademark portfolio and licenses • Advising supported organizations on and assisting them with their preparation, filing, and defending of shareholder proposals • Maintaining the organization’s service contracts with supported organizations • Conduct legal research and provide advice on a variety of charity and animal protection issues, statutes, and regulations

🎯 Requirements

• J.D. and a minimum of eight years of legal experience in the areas identified under Primary Responsibilities and Duties • Member in good standing of a state bar association • Proven excellent legal research, writing, and verbal advocacy skills • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks within strict time constraints • Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
