📋 Description

• Lead Pocketbook's Finance and Accounting Department • Oversee critical financial functions including monthly closes, nonprofit compliance, and financial analysis • Develop new service offerings and refine existing services • Manage and develop the Finance and Accounting team, including coaching team members • Translate company strategy into measurable departmental goals and KPIs • Collaborate cross-functionally to align finance and accounting operations with organizational KPIs, annual goals, and client growth needs • Refine Pocketbook's growth trajectory and evolve service offerings to meet emerging market and client needs • Align capacity planning, hiring plans, and new client intake with company capacity and service delivery capabilities • Foster innovation, process improvement, and exceptional client service • Innovate client service strategies and software infrastructure, including service lines, client evaluations, pricing models, automation, and knowledge management systems • Manage the P&L for finance and accounting verticals • Ensure monthly and annual closes, audits/reviews/compilations, and 990s meet accounting and nonprofit compliance standards • Manage systems and processes for high-quality monthly reporting to client stakeholders • Ensure financial and accounting functions comply with GAAP, company policy, regulatory requirements, and nonprofit legal rules • Lead diagnostic and consultative financial service projects and major new client implementations • Advise complex or high-volume clients requiring advanced financial services • Assist in launching and operationalizing new client service lines, including training and certification programs, fiscal sponsorship, compliance diagnostics, and financial coaching

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of nonprofit accounting, finance, or related field experience, including direct ownership of GAAP-compliant monthly close, audit prep, and 990 filing • 3+ years directly managing an accounting/finance team of at least 3 people • 2+ years of experience working with multi-entity nonprofit financial configurations • Proven ability to communicate complex financial, organizational, and regulatory information to non-experts • Overseen 5+ annual audits/reviews/compilations as the responsible accounting lead or project manager • Led launch of a new service line or client program from concept to delivery • 2+ years of direct P&L or budget ownership for a team or service line • Fluency in QBO, Google Workspace, nonprofit operating structures, and multi-entity operating structures • 2+ years in a director-level or department-head role owning departmental KPIs and performance accountability structures, significant culture change initiatives, or organization-wide strategic planning • CPA/MBA credential nice to have • 2+ years experience with FEC reporting compliance nice to have • Significant, measurable experience leading an ERP or financial operations system implementation nice to have • Experience using Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Rillet, or other cloud-based ERP systems nice to have • Experience managing a team through significant headcount growth nice to have • 5+ years serving as the technical advisor on complex or high-volume client accounts nice to have
