• Architect and evolve backend systems using Scala, Play, Postgres, and AWS • Design and deploy scalable APIs and AI-assisted services • Own feature development end to end from ideation through production • Build frontend features with React, Chakra, Storybook, and modern state tools • Develop and maintain agent-driven development workflows • Use Claude Code, Codex, and similar tools to accelerate implementation, debugging, and refactoring across parallel sessions • Create internal tooling, prompts, and engineering systems to improve velocity and code quality • Optimize performance across frontend, backend, and AI-assisted pipelines • Define best practices for AI-native software development • Eventually lead a small team of 2–3 engineers and shape their AI workflows • Work in six-week Shape Up cycles focused on solving problems rather than tickets • Use two-week cooldowns to improve systems, tooling, or explore ideas • Collaborate asynchronously across a distributed team spanning nine time zones
• 7+ years of software engineering experience • Strong experience with backend systems using Scala, Java, Ruby, or C# • Strong experience with JavaScript and React • Experience building and scaling SaaS products • Deep familiarity with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor • Comfort working across multi-session, agent-driven workflows • Strong judgment about when to rely on AI versus manual implementation • Experience designing systems, not just implementing features • Excellent written communication • Must live in a timezone between UTC-6 and UTC+2 • Deep configuration knowledge and power-user experience with Claude Code or Codex • Experience or experimentation with LLM-based custom development workflows, internal engineering tools, prompts, skills, or agent-like systems • Comfortable writing code, designing systems, guiding AI agents, and debugging AI-generated output
