📋 Description

• Edit daily biotech news stories, features and analysis for accuracy, clarity, structure and impact • Report and write daily news stories, features and other enterprise coverage • Work with the senior editor to set daily coverage priorities and identify stories Fierce Biotech should own • Help manage the daily Fierce Biotech newsletter by selecting and ordering stories, writing newsletter copy and meeting publication deadlines • Lead daily editorial operations when the senior editor is away • Move quickly on breaking news and help reporters identify follow-ups, broader trends and deeper reporting opportunities • Help reporters sharpen story angles, strengthen reporting and develop their voices • Contribute to special reports, recurring editorial franchises and newsroom initiatives • Participate in Fierce events, including moderating panels and interviews, developing editorial programming and representing the brand onstage • Collaborate across Fierce Biotech, Fierce Pharma and the broader newsroom on major stories and projects • Adopt and implement diversity in editorial work and help nurture a culture of diversity, inclusion and belonging

🎯 Requirements

• 2-4 years of professional journalism experience, with experience covering biotech • Editing experience and the ability to confidently edit daily news stories on tight deadlines • Strong understanding of the biotech industry, including drug development, clinical trials, financing, dealmaking, regulation and the companies and people shaping the sector • Ability to report and write quickly without sacrificing accuracy, context or clarity • Strong news judgment and an instinct for which developments matter most to Fierce Biotech’s audience • Experience working in a fast-moving digital newsroom • Strong communication and collaboration skills and a team-first approach • Interest in live journalism and ability to moderate interviews or panel discussions in front of an industry audience • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills • Good interpersonal skills and willingness to learn and continue to grow professionally • Strong team player and ability to work well with others • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future • 5 years of proof editing experience preferred • 5 years of line editing experience preferred
