📋 Description

• Track legislation, rulemaking, and market-conduct developments affecting Branch’s operations and growth • Build relationships with regulators, legislators, legislative staff, and trade associations • Plan and lead outreach to state insurance regulators regarding new products and lines of business • Represent Branch and its affiliates in industry coalitions and working groups • Help shape Branch’s positions on pending legislation and regulation • Translate proposed and enacted laws and regulations into practical guidance for legal, product, underwriting, compliance, and claims teams • Write comment letters, position papers, and testimony • Present Branch’s positions in regulatory and legislative settings • Support rate, form, and regulatory filings by explaining the relevant legislative and regulatory landscape • Join regulator calls and track each state’s position • Register as a lobbyist where required and stay current on lobbying and ethics rules • Manage outside lobbyists, consultants, or advisers • Flag regulatory risks and opportunities to senior leaders in business terms • Travel to national industry meetings, conferences, and state insurance departments • Work cross-functionally with legal, product, and compliance teams • Report to the Vice President, Head of Legal and Government Affairs; serve as an individual contributor

🎯 Requirements

• About 5 years of experience in government affairs, regulatory affairs, public policy, legislative affairs, or a closely related field • Track record of independently owning a regulatory or legislative portfolio with meaningful business stakes • Solid understanding of legislatures, regulatory agencies, and rulemaking • Strong writing and speaking skills, including drafting comment letters, delivering testimony, and briefing executives • Ability to build relationships with regulators, legislators, and trade groups across the political spectrum • Willingness to register as a lobbyist where required and travel as needed • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience • Applicants must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States • Must be able to work without employment visa sponsorship • Insurance industry experience is a plus • Experience at a state department of insurance or another state agency is a plus • Familiarity with personal lines property and casualty insurance is a plus • Experience advising product, underwriting, or compliance teams on regulatory issues is a plus • Law degree or policy-related graduate degree is a plus
