📋 Description

• Explore datasets to find patterns and insights about American criminal justice systems • Carry out well-scoped analyses with guidance from senior analysts and the State Engagement team • Support state product launches by following launch processes, preparing analytical data, and flagging discrepancies • Build clear, well-documented visualizations and dashboards using existing tools • Communicate findings to internal teams and present to state partners alongside teammates • Analyze trends related to Recidiviz's work to understand product performance • Develop knowledge of state data, policies, and products and answer questions with increasing independence

🎯 Requirements

• 6 or more months of practical experience exploring, analyzing, and cleaning real-world datasets; internships and research count • Working proficiency in SQL, including joins, aggregations, and window functions • Familiarity with Python, specifically the Pandas package, for data analysis and visualization • Strong communication and collaboration skills • Enthusiasm for working with diverse internal and external partners • Care and curiosity in inspecting source data and checking results closely • Interest in criminal justice or public policy, or public-sector data experience (preferred) • Experience with a BI or dashboarding tool such as Looker or Tableau (preferred) • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Looker, Jupyter notebooks, and Python/Pandas (preferred) • Visa sponsorship is not available
