Restate is a lightweight runtime and durable execution platform for building resilient AI agents, workflows, and backend services. Developers write durable steps in familiar languages (TypeScript, Python, Go, Java/Kotlin, Rust) and deploy to servers, containers, or serverless platforms (Kubernetes, Vercel, Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda, Fargate, Google Cloud Run, etc. ). Restate offers a high-performance Rust runtime with low latency and high throughput, supports self-hosting or Restate Cloud, and is positioned as an alternative to systems like Temporal. It targets long‑running, event‑driven, and distributed applications including AI agents and orchestration.

📋 Description

• Help customers build products with durable execution • Work directly with engineers, architects, and technical leaders from initial evaluation to production • Evaluate where durable execution fits into customer architectures • Design production systems with Restate • Build proof-of-concepts, prototypes, integrations, and reference implementations • Solve distributed systems and infrastructure challenges • Deploy and operate Restate in production • Troubleshoot complex distributed systems and infrastructure issues • Bring technical feedback to engineering and product teams • Turn recurring customer challenges into tooling, documentation, best practices, and reusable patterns • Contribute to technical demos, talks, and developer content • Influence the product roadmap and improve developer experience

🎯 Requirements

• Strong software engineering or solutions architecture background • Experience with distributed, backend, or event-driven systems • Strong understanding of system architecture and reliability • Experience with a backend language such as Go, Java, Python, TypeScript, Rust, or C++ • Experience with cloud infrastructure and/or Kubernetes • Ability to dive into code and troubleshoot technical issues • United States-based • Authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship, now and in the future • San Francisco Bay Area preferred • Distributed databases, messaging systems, workflow engines, or infrastructure software experience preferred • Kubernetes, networking, observability, or cloud architecture experience preferred • AI infrastructure or production AI applications experience preferred • Rust or other systems programming experience preferred • Open-source or technical evangelism experience preferred
