Ripken Baseball is a youth sports organization that operates The Ripken Experience — a network of baseball/softball tournaments, week-long baseball vacation experiences, spring training, development camps, showcase All-Ripken Games, and national championship events. The company runs events at multiple partner locations (Aberdeen MD, Myrtle Beach SC, Pigeon Forge TN, Cooperstown NY, Sports Force Parks, Rocker B Ranch, etc. ), provides state-of-the-art facilities and Big League-style amenities, and supports families with lodging, dining, entertainment, photography, and streaming resources. Its primary audience is youth players, coaches, and families seeking organized baseball/softball competition and developmental experiences.

📋 Description

• Own completeness, accuracy, and quality of accounting and financial reporting for assigned entities • Prepare monthly journal entries and support revenue recognition under GAAP • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, roll-forwards, and supporting workpapers • Record and investigate daily cash receipts and resolve reconciling items • Support and execute month-end general ledger close, including adjusting entries under accrual accounting • Prepare month-end financial reporting packages, including income statement variance analysis against budget and forecast and balance sheet review • Present and communicate financial results and relevant findings to key stakeholders • Partner with operations teams to reconcile and deliver flash reports and recurring reporting • Prepare PBC deliverables and supporting documentation for annual financial audit and tax return preparation • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve efficiency • Partner with Finance and FP&A and provide ad hoc analysis and management support • Contribute to special projects, finance initiatives, and accounting support for acquisition integrations

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting • 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience • Strong understanding of GAAP and ability to apply accounting principles in day-to-day operations • Advanced analytical capabilities in Microsoft Excel • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills • Ability to manage multiple entities, priorities, and deadlines • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to adapt communication to different audiences • Self-starting mindset with ability to take ownership and work with limited supervision • Ability to consistently meet deadlines • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment • Preferred: CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA licensure • Preferred: Public accounting experience • Preferred: Experience in a multi-entity, private-equity-backed, high-growth, or acquisitive organization • Preferred: Working knowledge of Sage Intacct, Bill.com, and Concur • Preferred: Interest in leveraging AI and emerging tools to improve accounting workflows and efficiency • Preferred: Passion for youth sports
