• Serve as a core member of the interdisciplinary care team for pediatric palliative care patients and families in home and community settings • Develop and deliver child life support addressing developmental, emotional, and psychosocial needs • Assess developmental and psychosocial needs and coping styles of children and siblings • Develop, implement, and evaluate child life service plans • Provide medical play, expressive techniques, education, procedural support, developmental support, and psychosocial interventions • Promote safe and nurturing environments in homes, schools, and community settings • Provide developmentally appropriate diagnostic teaching and caregiver education • Facilitate expressive and therapeutic play, grief, bereavement, memory-making, and legacy work • Advocate for children and families and communicate their goals to the care team • Plan age-appropriate programming supporting peer support and reducing isolation • Document communications and interventions • Participate in Interdisciplinary Group meetings • Meet department productivity standards • Collaborate with facility-based child life staff to promote consistent care • Maintain privacy, integrity, attendance, and compliance with organizational policies • Perform other functions as assigned by management
• Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) certification from the Association of Child Life Professionals is required • Minimum of 3 years related experience • Bachelor’s degree in child life, psychology, child development, or human service required • Must have ability to travel • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills • Basic computer skills, including Windows-based operating environments, email, and basic electronic documents • Ability to learn and utilize new systems, computer applications, and operating environments with training • Valid licensure, physical readiness, and flexibility for extended or on-call schedules are typically required for this clinical category
