📋 Description

• Perform professional nursing activities for patients to help them achieve or maintain maximum physical, emotional, or social functioning • Complete initial and admission assessments, collect and analyze patient data, and document findings • Assess patient medical, physical, cultural, spiritual, ethnic, medication, safety, and discharge needs • Involve and document patient support systems and advocate for patient rights, privacy, and confidentiality • Initiate, update, interpret, and document treatment plans and plans of care • Participate in care conferences and represent the nursing component of treatment plans • Review laboratory data and follow up with physicians • Evaluate fall risk, self-abuse, suicidality, assaultive behavior, withdrawal, medication side effects, and acute cardiac or respiratory symptoms • Administer and monitor medications safely, transcribe physician orders, document responses, and educate patients about medications • Implement patient care according to care plans, Hospital policies, unit standards, age-specific needs, and cultural needs • Use de-escalation techniques, including quiet room, locked seclusion, and restraints, as appropriate • Provide patient and family health education and document education in the patient record and treatment plan • Coordinate admissions, transfers, and related care activities in compliance with EMTALA when designated as a QMP • Protect patients, visitors, and staff through safety and infection control practices • Participate in continuing education, in-services, performance improvement, committees, unit projects, and quality initiatives • Assist with development and implementation of unit standards of care, educational equipment needs, and supply needs • Assume charge nurse responsibilities, including coordinating unit activities, crisis leadership, admissions, therapeutic milieu management, assignments, and unit organization • Supervise and delegate tasks to LPNs and psychiatric technicians • Maintain a primary caseload and provide direction for patient care • Provide acuity monitors to Patient Accounts to support accurate billing • Develop professional growth goals and discuss progress with the Clinical Services Manager • Promote hospital and department goals, maintain policies and procedures, and support regulatory compliance • Train new staff and student interns as directed • Communicate professionally with patients, families, physicians, visitors, vendors, and hospital employees

🎯 Requirements

• Registered nurse licensed by State Board of Nursing in the state of employment; license must be in good standing • Must reside in a state that Rogers currently operates in: WI, MN, IL, PA, TN, FL, GA, CO, CA, WA • Must hold licensure in Wisconsin and be able to obtain licensure in Minnesota and Illinois • American Health Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification required, or required within thirty (30) days of date-of-hire; bi-annual re-certification required • Formal training in management of the aggressive patient required within sixty (60) days of date-of-hire; annual re-certification required • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred • Previous psychiatric experience with children, adolescents and adults preferred • May be required to hold a qualified medical professional (QMP) designation and meet associated competency requirements • Employees at Child/Adolescent Day Treatment programs licensed under HFS §40 require psychiatric nursing training involving children with mental health disorders, or one (1) year of clinical experience with these children • Demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills • Comply with Hospital policies and procedures, including Human Resources, Infection Control, and Employee Health policies and programs • Participate in required in-services, continuing education, certifications, and regulatory compliance activities
