📋 Description

• Oversee project substation and transmission line designs from a technical engineering perspective • Ensure projects comply with project requirements, IEEE/ANSI standards, applicable codes, and scope of work • Select, scope, and oversee subcontractors or internal engineering resources • Supervise design groups of 1-4 subcontractors for a single project • Review contracts for potential pitfalls and client obligations • Assist project management with equipment selection and securing long-lead items • Perform preliminary designs for prospective projects, including SLDs and GAs for estimating • Review, comment on, and oversee HV designs and equipment procured by Rosendin • Develop and communicate conceptual SLDs, layouts, and transmission lines • Conduct value engineering and back-check design packages for quality assurance • Coordinate design criteria with project budgets and project management • Review and mark up contract documents and represent Rosendin in client-facing calls • Oversee junior engineers, designers, and staff • Review, comment, and process equipment and system submittals with the Engineer of Record • Generate electrical specifications and sequences of operations • Coordinate equipment and system testing and commissioning • Perform process coordination among architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, project management, field, and electrical trades • Prepare designs and specifications for PV, DG, BESS, and MV systems • Prepare power system single-line diagrams, feeder and overcurrent protection sizing, and equipment elevations • Conduct short circuit, protection coordination, and Arc Flash mitigation studies • Perform voltage drop, voltage droop, and underground heat effect calculations using Neher-McGrath • Coordinate designs with project specifications and equipment manufacturers • Visit job sites to survey existing electrical conditions • Utilize engineering analysis programs to analyze loads, energy production, lighting levels, and short circuit currents • Lead project design team meetings and interface with clients, architects, subcontractors, and engineers from other trades • Research and resolve drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors • Represent the design group during construction and attend Owner and Contractor meetings • Assist in marketing the firm

🎯 Requirements

• A four-year degree from an accredited university or college in engineering or construction sciences • 2-4 years of experience with electrical engineering design or engineering management with MV collection, substation and/or transmission line for renewable or utility projects • Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and coordinate with others • Ability to analyze and resolve complex engineering problems • Can be a combination of education, training and relevant experience • PE or EIT is preferred • Ability to work on multiple projects at any time • Fluency with remote productivity software such as Box, Cisco, GoTo Meeting • Working knowledge of AutoCAD • Proficiency in computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) • Willingness to learn engineering software such as ETAP, EZPower, and Cymcap • Familiarity with IEEE Standards and ability to research and learn new standards • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with employees, management, vendors, clients, and others • Willingness to travel 10-15%, including quarterly travel to Anaheim • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
