📋 Description

• Build and run global infrastructure operations across pod sites in the US and Europe, from site bring-up, rack and stack, cabling, power and cooling integration, burn-in and acceptance through steady-state operations and decommissioning • Own server, storage and network layers end to end, including Linux fleet management, bare-metal provisioning and imaging, firmware and driver lifecycle, high-throughput storage, and data center and inter-site networks • Define and improve repeatable, documented and automated site-launch playbooks for new 1 MW deployments • Own capacity planning, monitoring, alerting, on-call, incident response and post-incident reviews • Drive down GPU, node and network failure rates • Hire, lead and develop data center, systems and network engineers across time zones • Manage colocation, power, connectivity and hardware vendors and partners, including capacity contracts, lead times, spares, RMA flows and site-level budgets • Partner with hardware and platform engineering to ensure designs are operable at scale and feed field learnings into future servers and pods • Use LLM-based agents to automate runbooks, triage and tooling • Own operational security and compliance for physical infrastructure, including access control, hardening, asset tracking, audit readiness and data residency requirements • Report to the Head of AI Infrastructure and collaborate with hardware, platform and inference engineering teams and external partners

🎯 Requirements

• 15+ years in infrastructure engineering and operations, with at least several years leading the function at a company that runs its own hardware at scale • Track record of building infrastructure operations across multiple sites, regions or countries • Experience opening data centers, pods or colocation footprints • Deep, current, hands-on Linux expertise, including kernel and driver behaviour, performance tuning, bare-metal provisioning, configuration management and fleet automation • Strong storage fundamentals, including NVMe, distributed and parallel file systems, object storage, and high-throughput and IOPS design • Strong networking fundamentals, including L2/L3 design, BGP, data center fabrics, high-bandwidth interconnects and network debugging • Experience running high-performance teams, hiring, leading and retaining engineers, setting standards, and building on-call and incident cultures • Daily use of AI for scripting, runbooks, analysis, documentation and debugging • Ability to own outcomes in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment and make decisions with incomplete information • Ability to travel to sites in the US and Europe as needed • Nice to have: experience operating large GPU fleets for AI training or inference, including NVIDIA driver, Fabric Manager and NCCL stacks • Nice to have: hands-on experience with RDMA fabrics, InfiniBand or RoCE, 400G+ Ethernet and monitoring tools • Nice to have: liquid-cooled, high-density, modular or containerized data center experience and site-level power and cooling integration • Nice to have: hardware supply chain familiarity, including server ODMs, component lead times, inventory, spares and RMA economics • Nice to have: automation stack experience with Ansible, Terraform, PXE, image pipelines, IPMI, Redfish, Prometheus and Grafana or similar • Nice to have: Kubernetes or Slurm on bare metal experience • Nice to have: infrastructure experience meeting data residency, sovereignty or compliance requirements
