📋 Description

• Answer billing questions and clarify incurred charges and financial responsibility • Review patients' insurance coverage, Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), and insurance denials • Explain denial reasons, insurance adjustments, payments received, and pending balances • Review payment plan guidelines and assist with payment arrangements • Determine eligibility for payment assistance programs and assist with applications • Educate patients on insurance concepts, coverage, copayments, referrals, and effective coverage dates • Assist with medical assistance paperwork and referrals to Medicaid, insurance aid, or disability programs • Advise uninsured patients on medical costs and establish payment plans • Interact with patients in person, empathize with them, and diffuse strong emotions • Calculate and provide procedure cost estimates and anticipated patient shares • Advise on and collect prepayments for services not covered by insurance • Perform guest service duties as needed • Complete other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Computer skills sufficient to operate online systems and complex software with advanced functionality • Oral and written communication skills sufficient to interpret and apply policies and procedures for clarification and problem resolution • Knowledge of third-party payers • Basic bookkeeping or accounting principles required • Thorough understanding of insurance products • Ability to accurately read EOBs, determine adjustments and received payments, and calculate pending balances • High school diploma or equivalent preferred • Post-secondary education preferred • Two years' experience in healthcare service or health insurance preferred
