📋 Description

• Review clinical documentation to assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for designated patient types • Validate APC calculations to accurately capture documented diagnoses and procedures for hospitals • Review and assess documentation for accurate abstraction of clinical data meeting regulatory and compliance requirements • Select and sequence ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS codes for ancillary, hospital, clinic, physician professional fee, technical fee, and evaluation and management patient types • Review facility records to ensure APC assignments and/or Evaluation and Management codes reflect documented diagnoses and procedures • Abstract clinical data to support diagnoses, procedures, and discharge disposition • Complete assigned work functions using appropriate resources • Act as a resource for client staff regarding data integrity, clarification, and compliant coding practices, including provider queries • Maintain patient and provider confidentiality in compliance with HIPPA Guidelines • Participate in client and Savista meetings, trainings, and conference calls • Maintain current knowledge of coding systems, guidelines, government regulations, protocols, and third-party requirements • Interact with client staff and providers as needed

🎯 Requirements

• Successfully pass a pre-employment skills assessment • Hold an active AHIMA credential, including RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCA, or an active AAPC credential such as COC, CCS-P, CPC, or related specialty credential • Two years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, ICD-10, and CPT/HCPCS code sets • Consistently code at a 95% quality threshold while maintaining client-specific and/or Savista production or quality standards • Proficient computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel • Ability to enter data and sort and filter Excel files • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with internal and external customers • Recent and relevant active-production coding experience strongly preferred • Associate degree in HIM or a healthcare-related field, or equivalent education and experience, preferred • Experience using EPIC and Optum CAC preferred • Facility and professional-fee experience is a plus
