• Investigate claims against insurance or other companies for personal, casualty, or property loss or damages • Handle complex losses locally unassisted up to designated authority • Assist on larger losses, including accounting-based losses such as business interruption and stock • Examine claim forms and records to determine insurance coverage • Interview, telephone, or correspond with claimants and witnesses • Consult police and hospital records • Inspect property damage to determine the extent of company liability • Estimate repair, replacement, or compensation costs • Prepare findings reports and negotiate settlements with claimants • Recommend litigation by the legal department when settlements cannot be negotiated • Attend litigation hearings • Revise case reserves to cover probable costs • Assist in preparing loss experience reports and calculate adequate future rates • Perform other assigned duties and support quality programs • Travel as required
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred • Must have earned the IIA-AIC designation • Must be actively pursuing another professional insurance designation • Appropriate state adjuster license is required • Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required • Strong oral and written communication, including presentation skills • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products • Demonstrated commitment to timely reporting • Strong customer service skills • Strong interpersonal skills • Attention to detail and accuracy • Good time management and organizational skills • Ability to work independently or in a team environment • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies • Ability to handle work-related stress and multiple priorities simultaneously • Ability to meet deadlines • Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods • Ability to kneel, squat, bend, stoop, and work overhead • Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions • Ability to climb and crawl • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds • Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds • Ability to drive up to 4 hours per day • Continual use of manual dexterity • Hearing, vision, and talking abilities
