• Perform detailed admiralty claims investigation and analysis through examination of losses, witness statements, examinations under oath, and background checks • Inspect loss sites and determine loss estimates • Document where and how injuries or damage occurred and assess their nature and type • Perform onsite, photographic, and document inspections to assess cause of loss and coverage • Interview involved parties and document written or recorded statements to determine settlement and next steps • Generate detailed reports for internal adjusters and outside clients • Run and interpret formal background checks related to claims and advise clients of outcomes • Handle medical claims under P&I coverage from beginning to end • Request medical documentation and records and evaluate long-term medical needs under maintenance and cure • Handle shipping and seaman lost-wage claims and evaluate appropriate compensation • Support quality programs • Travel as required • Perform other duties as assigned
• Four (4) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required • Extensive knowledge of complex marine inspection and failure • Ability to read and interpret insurance policies • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products • Analytical and interpretive skills • Strong organizational skills • Excellent interpersonal skills • Proven management/leadership skills • Excellent negotiating skills • Ability to create and complete comprehensive, accurate, and constructive written reports • Ability to work in a team environment • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies • Ability to inspect loss sites and work outdoors in hot or cold weather • Ability to travel as required • Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods • Ability to kneel, squat, bend, climb, crawl, stoop, reach, and work overhead • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds • Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds • Ability to drive up to 4 hours per day • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred • Private investigator license, Class C investigator's license, or Class C concealed carry license/course preferred
