📋 Description

• Manage all assigned contested foreclosure cases • Proactively monitor cases, identify risks, and escalate issues • Work independently with outside counsel to develop and implement litigation strategies • Prepare written case summaries and discuss cases with counsel and outside investors • Assess new contested matters and determine risk and resolution strategies • Anticipate and plan for all phases of litigation • Manage discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, preparing witnesses for depositions, and coordinating document production • Manage outside counsel relationships, obtain regular updates, and ensure efficient, cost-effective work • Review and approve outside counsel budgets and invoices • Update and maintain the Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker litigation database • Report litigation status, strategy, critical events, and dates to management and investors • Track and follow up on hearings, depositions, motions, pleadings, and related matters • Identify and notify the VP of high-risk matters upon intake • Participate in settlement negotiations to resolve cases and minimize company risk and investor losses • Assist with management-assigned special projects • Assist the VP in training contested and litigation staff • Respond to email inquiries within 24 hours • Recommend procedural changes and improvements for the department • Research and analyze requests according to established guidelines and determine appropriate action • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality

🎯 Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of laws, regulations, and investor and insurer guidelines governing residential mortgage servicing, including CFPB, GNMA, FHA, VA, USDA, FNMA, and FHLMC • Understanding of mortgage loan servicing and default, foreclosure, bankruptcy, and loss mitigation processes • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills • Ability to prioritize and maintain a large volume of multi-faceted work • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing business environment • Ability to meet individual and team case management goals • Team player with professionalism and positivity • Ability to develop rapport with all levels of associates and establish credibility • Excellent listening skills and good judgment • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills • Problem-solving and decision-making ability • Ability to produce quality work and solve problems strategically • Ability to multitask and consistently meet multiple deadlines • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; or Associate's degree from an accredited college plus a paralegal certification and at least ten years of related experience as a paralegal or litigation specialist in mortgage servicing • Must have experience in the legal department of a mortgage servicer • Experience with Legal Tracker or similar litigation case management database, MSP, Black Knight/LPS, and Microsoft Office applications • Knowledge of Internet Explorer • Ability to generate reports; knowledge of Microsoft Excel useful
