📋 Description

• Lead a team of engineers partnering with the AI group and broader engineering organization • Bring ideas from conception to production while ensuring existing systems run smoothly • Work daily with data scientists, machine learning engineers, product owners, and cross-functional stakeholders • Drive delivery, foster innovation, and provide people leadership • Manage, coach, and grow engineers through feedback and career development • Recruit and onboard engineers as needed and develop technical leadership • Manage stakeholder priorities and expectations • Represent the team's roadmap, capacity, and risks in planning discussions • Drive technical discussions and design reviews • Partner on architecture and design decisions • Ensure technical decisions are understood and defensible to stakeholders • Champion effective AI-tool usage for research, administration, and code generation • Balance AI productivity gains against associated risks • Improve team efficiency, code quality, and decision-making through AI tooling • Own roadmap delivery across feature work, technical debt, and reliability commitments • Establish quality, testing, and monitoring practices • Communicate progress, risks, and blockers to stakeholders and leadership • Define metrics and analyze performance against targets

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years working as a software engineer; some experience should be in the ML sphere • At least 4 years of experience managing engineers directly in an ML focused domain preferred • Prior engineering management experience; this should not be your first time managing • Comfortable engaging in technical discussions on architecture, data flows, and system design • Demonstrable professional experience using AI tools for research, administration, and code generation • Clear point of view on using AI tools responsibly and cost-effectively • Strong knowledge of software development best practices, cloud computing platforms, big data technologies, MLOps toolkits, and SLO-driven reliability management • Experience with at least one of Databricks, Spark, Airflow, Vertex, or the GCP technology stack preferred • Strong track record managing relationships with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders • Ability to communicate clearly across audiences and influence without authority • Comfortable navigating competing priorities and pushing back constructively • Experience giving structured feedback and building career paths • Ability to build trust and psychological safety while maintaining high output and accountability standards
