âą Review and analyze medical billing and coding for processing âą Assist with client management âą Manage the coding team, including Team Leads and production coders âą Adhere to ICD-9/ICD-10 coding conventions and official coding guidelines approved by CPT, AMA, AAOS, and CCI âą Consult physicians for clarification and additional documentation before code assignment when health-record data is conflicting or ambiguous âą Strive for the optimal payment to which the facility is legally entitled âą Assist and educate physicians and clinicians by advocating proper documentation practices âą Follow OIG guidelines, including completing code disagreement forms where required and providing supporting documentation for center approval âą Update coding site specifics for assigned centers âą Identify and track cases unable to be billed due to missing operative notes, pathology reports, supply information, or other documentation âą Submit documented daily/weekly requests to centers for missing information âą Perform month-end tasks within established timeframes, including running reports for assigned centers and tracking unbilled cases âą Manage client communications through emails, phone calls, and video meetings with client staff and physicians âą Aid clients in denial management and coding reviews âą Manage coding-team case productivity âą Approve employee time and payroll entries âą Provide coder training and ongoing education âą Participate in meetings, trainings, and conferences as needed
âą Required certification in one of the following: CCS, CPC, RHIA, RHIT âą Successful completion of formal education in basic ICD-9-CM/ICD-10/CPT coding, medical terminology, anatomy/physiology and disease process âą Excellent command of written and spoken English âą Ability to promote favorable company image with patients, insurance companies, and general public âą Ability to solve problems associated with assigned task âą Minimum of 5 years acute care coding experience of all patient types: Inpatient, SDS and ER, with strong experience in Surgical coding âą 3 years management experience âą Strong attention to detail and speed while working within tight deadlines âą Exceptional ability to follow oral and written instructions âą A high degree of flexibility and professionalism âą Experience working in an Ancillary/Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) âą Working knowledge of IPAs and health plans âą Comfortable with electronic and manual payor follow-up âą Ability to quickly identify trends and escalate, as appropriate âą Ability to read, analyze and interpret insurance plans, financial reports, and legal documents âą At this time we are unable to sponsor H1B candidates âą Preferred education: Associates or better; Bachelors or better
