📋 Description

• Draft, negotiate, and maintain customer-facing agreements for direct-to-consumer sales and fleet transactions • Advise on go-to-market structuring for consumer and fleet channels, including pricing, promotions, and program terms • Partner with sales teams to structure and document commercial vehicle sales • Support legal aspects of Slate’s direct sales model, including e-commerce terms, purchase agreements, and required disclosures • Advise on KYC, anti-money laundering, and transaction-level legal and regulatory requirements • Build and maintain the legal framework for Slate’s digital retail platform • Advise on terms of use, e-signature and electronic contracting processes, and point-of-sale disclosures • Advise on online payment processing, e-signature validity, and recordkeeping requirements • Support testing and rollout of digital retail features and identify legal and compliance considerations • Troubleshoot legal issues from digital retail system changes with IT, Product, and vendors • Review and clear marketing, advertising, and promotional materials • Advise on FTC, state consumer protection, and advertising substantiation requirements • Support influencer, sponsorship, and co-marketing arrangements • Advise service and customer support teams on complaints, escalations, and pre-litigation disputes • Support service policies, warranty terms, and customer communications • Develop escalation paths, playbooks, and scalable frontline guidance • Advise on consumer and commercial financing programs • Support optional-product design, documentation, and compliance review • Monitor compliance with consumer finance laws, including TILA/Regulation Z and state retail installment sales acts • Support dealer, financial services, and insurance/optional-products licensing strategy and compliance • Track state-by-state licensing requirements, applications, and renewals • Build repeatable processes and trackers for licensing obligations • Perform other duties as assigned as go-to-market legal needs evolve

🎯 Requirements

• J.D. and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction • 8+ years of relevant experience, in-house and/or at a law firm • Meaningful exposure to commercial contracts, marketing/advertising law, consumer finance, or licensing/regulatory compliance • Experience with consumer transactions, retail or e-commerce terms, and/or marketing review is helpful • Experience with dealer, finance, or insurance licensing is a plus • Ability to quickly learn new legal subject matter • Comfort advising on and building processes where no playbook exists in a fast-moving startup • Excellent judgment translating business and marketing objectives into legal risk and practical guidance • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis • No visa sponsorship available
