📋 Description

• Design and build scalable backend services for Smartsheet’s next-generation applications • Solve complex distributed systems challenges with product management and stakeholders • Build and maintain core infrastructure supporting reliability, stability, and performance • Manage and upgrade large-scale database infrastructure and complex replication topologies • Automate core operations using AWS, Golang, MySQL, Terraform, Temporal, and GitLab-CI • Collaborate through mob programming, code reviews, and architectural discussions • Practice Test-Driven Development and participate in book clubs and retrospectives • Use AI tools across coding, testing, design, and troubleshooting, and coach others on effective AI use • Participate in a gradually ramped operational on-call rotation

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience and proficiency in at least one modern programming language • Go experience is a plus but not required; Java, Kotlin, or Python backgrounds translate well • 3+ years of experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure • Strong desire to learn Infrastructure as Code with Terraform • Eagerness to understand database internals and reliability with MySQL • 5+ years of software development experience building highly scalable, highly available applications • Experience developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs • Comfortable or eager to become comfortable working in a mob programming environment • Experience writing test-driven code and sharing system ownership • Critical thinking and complex technical troubleshooting skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • 1+ year of professional experience leveraging AI to improve personal productivity in building complex SaaS feature sets • A BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical industry experience • Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis
