• Lead and own in-house SCADA monitoring and control system design for utility-scale renewable energy projects • Develop designs and documentation using AutoCAD, Visio, and other design tools • Define, document, and improve SCADA design standards and best practices • Lead scope review and cross-functional requirements gathering • Develop, review, and approve communications diagrams, networking port maps, powering diagrams, and equipment bills of materials • Review SCADA drawing sets and generate redlines • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex SCADA configurations and design issues • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers • Collaborate with the Operational Technology team on server and networking hardware requirements • Drive standardization and process improvements to reduce design and commissioning effort • Generate project documentation including block diagrams, elevations, fiber routing and splicing, and equipment wiring diagrams • Develop training materials • Provide project status updates and risk assessments • Promote NERC compliance and governance • Lead research projects on SCADA equipment and emerging technologies • Represent SCADA design in customer meetings and technical reviews • Interface with third-party integrators during SCADA rack and field network enclosure assembly • Lead and present system design reviews during customer-witnessed SCADA headend Factory Acceptance Tests • Coordinate with customers, utility representatives, and field technicians for commissioning and installation support • Support operations and asset management teams during project handoff
• 6–8 years of engineering experience or equivalent • Experience working in renewable energy, including utility-scale PV solar, BESS, or wind desired • Direct experience in SCADA engineering • Direct experience drafting SCADA, networking, electrical, or substation engineering drawing sets • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD • Advanced knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts and architectures • Advanced knowledge of SCADA network design, installation, and commissioning using fiber optics, Serial RS-232/RS-485, and Ethernet TCP/IP • Advanced knowledge of industrial automation protocols including Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA, and OPC DA • Advanced knowledge of power-system, networking and control, electrical, mechanical, and civil diagrams and schematics • Advanced knowledge of power plant operating procedures and control-system interaction with Regional Compliance Entities, Independent System Operators, Transmission Operators, and Generator Operators • Ability to work with subcontractors and field personnel • Proficiency with project management, scheduling, and task management tools • Excellent communication skills • Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical, or energy engineering preferred • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future
