📋 Description

• Report directly to the CFO • Oversee the outsourced accounting function • Run the monthly close end-to-end, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements • Establish a close calendar and repeatable accounting processes • Design and document accounting policies, internal controls, and workflows • Own revenue recognition for prepay, usage-based, and pay-as-you-go contracts under GAAP and ASC 606 • Lead order-to-cash from invoicing through collections • Reconcile usage-based billing against contracted commitments • Work cross-functionally to improve billing accuracy and reduce time-to-payment • Own audit readiness, prepare audit-ready workpapers, and manage external auditor relationships • Evaluate current tools and lead ERP and finance-system selection and implementation • Identify and adopt appropriate AI finance tools, including Sparrow's own tools • Hire and manage an in-house accounting team as functions transition from the outsourced provider

🎯 Requirements

• CPA preferred but not required • 8 to 10+ years of relevant experience • Big 4 or national firm experience • Experience at a high-growth startup is a plus but not required • Deep US GAAP expertise • Real ASC 606 revenue recognition experience • Experience with ERP systems and billing systems • Experience selecting or implementing ERP or other systems is a bonus • Meaningful experience integrating AI into work and building AI-first workflows • Clear communication and ability to explain accounting concepts without jargon • Integrity and discretion • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Must be physically working from within the United States
