📋 Description

• Direct Corporate EHS and Workers’ Compensation activities supporting divisions and facilities in implementing and maintaining an effective EHS management system • Direct the Spartech EHS Management System at facilities worldwide • Develop EHS initiatives and programs ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations and standards • Guide and communicate with senior management and plant leadership regarding EHS and Workers’ Compensation status and initiatives • Manage the EHS budget • Analyze EHS program activities to assess applicability, success, improvements, and compliance • Prepare EHS reports and presentations for senior management • Prepare governmental reports and ensure information accuracy • Establish and maintain the company health and safety management system • Establish annual EHS targets and goals and administer recognition and incentive programs • Develop EHS performance metrics and maintain external communications with public officials, media, and customers • Coordinate with regional EHS staff, operating divisions, and health and safety coordinators to implement company policies and programs • Consult across the organization on improvement areas, compliance, and continuous-improvement objectives • Audit health and safety management systems, communicate results, and follow up on corrective actions • Coordinate with executive staff and business-unit leadership to maintain focus on the EHS program and promote employee involvement • Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, safety sciences, or equivalent • Minimum 10 years of experience and/or training in environmental, health, and safety in a production environment • Minimum 2 years of supervisory and project leadership experience • Expert regulatory knowledge in EHS areas and management systems • Ability to apply regulatory and standards knowledge to workable solutions aligned with company objectives • Ability to influence others, manage direct reports, and direct continuous safety improvements • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions • Ability to read and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial/business reports, and legal documents • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, business, or local community members • Strong oral and written communication skills across all organizational levels • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously • Ability to translate business strategies into clear objectives and tactics • Ability to identify underlying issues and root causes • Ability to make difficult decisions when necessary • Ability to use metrics and performance measures to track progress • Process- and strategy-oriented thinking • Self-motivated, capable of independent action and self-prioritization • Ability to communicate long-term compliance needs across management levels • Ability to identify and resolve complex technical and organizational issues • Professional EHS registration or certification such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM is preferable, not required • Master’s degree is a plus, not required
