📋 Description

• Evaluate and/or provide technical assistance for large-scale improvement efforts on an interdisciplinary team • Support professional learning programs and development of resources for foundational skills, reading comprehension, multilingual learners, writing from source material, and disciplinary literacy • Provide ELA/literacy expertise through consultation and targeted contributions • Conduct literacy assessment, instructional-practice measurement, curricular-material reviews, and literacy research synthesis • Conduct literature, website, document, and policy scans and reviews • Support data collection and analysis, including surveys, data visualizations, classroom observations, interviews, and qualitative analysis • Provide project management and coordination support, including tracking milestones, recommending procedures, and managing project documents and databases • Prepare district research applications and Institutional Review Board packages • Facilitate meetings by taking notes, synthesizing themes, coordinating feedback, analyzing data, and summarizing results • Prepare reports, briefs, and presentations for non-academic, academic, and policy audiences • Consider diverse perspectives and experiences in project work • Participate in ongoing project-embedded mentorship and professional development

🎯 Requirements

• Cover letter required, including interest in the position and training and experience in ELA/literacy • Master’s degree in the social sciences, education, policy, or related fields • 2 years of ELA/literacy teaching experience (K–12) in the U.S. public education system, especially in historically underserved communities • U.S. citizenship required due to contract requirements • Experience with multiple research and/or technical assistance methods • Experience with research methods such as large-scale surveys, experimental research, or case study methods, preferably in K–12 school settings • Experience with technical assistance methods, including needs sensing, technical assistance planning, educator professional learning design, or developing tools for data use and evidence-based practices in K–12 school systems • Experience writing clear, concise research summaries and report or brief sections, or translating research into presentations, tools, and educator/policymaker resources • Ability to discuss research tasks or technical assistance activities with field individuals and organizations, study sites, or study participants • Strong organizational skills and capacity to support multiple projects and shifting priorities • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Willingness to travel 5–6 times per year for school site visits, often lasting 3–4 days • Writing samples required during the interview process • Successful candidates receiving a conditional offer are subject to a background check
