• Deliver specific high school special education course content in an online environment • Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing each student’s learning process • Focus instruction on individual student needs defined by each student’s IEP • Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure appropriate therapies and services • Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and required special education documentation • Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings • Apply accommodations and modifications using assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text • Modify Stride K12 lessons and assessments according to IEP requirements • Ensure student inclusion and success in the general education classroom • Collect data and work samples to monitor progress toward IEP goals • Document parent contacts and student interventions • Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment • Provide synchronous and asynchronous online learning experiences • Maintain the grade book and make placement and promotion decisions • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests • Establish rapport with families and communicate promptly with students and learning coaches/parents • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to interpret student data and support instructional decisions
• Appropriate state Department of Education High School (9-12) Special Education Teaching Certification required • Active state teaching license required • Bachelor’s degree required • If certification is from another state, provide proof of New Mexico license application within 7 days of the start date and obtain an approved New Mexico teaching license within 90 days • Ability to clear the required background check • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week • Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during the workday • Ability to work the school-defined schedule, typically 9–5 or 8–4 • Ability to travel up to 20% for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or school requirements • Ability to collaborate with teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data • Ability to use student data to drive instructional decisions • Receptive to regular coaching from administrators • Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Experience with the proposed age group desired • Experience supporting adults and children with technology desired • Experience teaching online or in a brick-and-mortar environment desired • Experience with an online learning platform desired
