• Build and implement HARMAN’s long-term corporate sustainability and ESG strategy and goals • Lead progress toward ESG initiatives and goals, including decarbonization strategy and GHG reduction goals • Advise the HARMAN ESG Committee and internal leaders on sustainability priorities and program performance • Integrate ESG matters into enterprise risk management and ensure mitigation action plans • Lead budgeting for the corporate sustainability program and manage external sustainability strategy and reporting consultants • Align Business Division Sustainability Leads, Supply Chain Risk Management, Procurement, and Manufacturing stakeholders • Create and manage global ESG program governance forums and cross-functional coordination mechanisms • Enhance employee engagement through sustainability training and communications • Serve as the interface between HARMAN and Samsung on ESG and sustainability alignment • Ensure supply chain and internal due diligence mechanisms address social matters and disclosure compliance • Ensure compliance with global sustainability and ESG disclosure laws and regulations • Lead external ESG reporting and disclosure activities, improving data quality, collection systems, internal controls, and audit processes • Develop environmental data and carbon accounting expertise and manage corporate environmental dashboards • Lead production of HARMAN’s annual voluntary sustainability report • Lead engagement with strategic ESG assessment organizations such as CDP and EcoVadis • Support internal and external inquiries regarding ESG strategy and performance data • Oversee internal and external sustainability communications • Lead relationships with membership-based sustainability organizations • Represent HARMAN’s ESG and sustainability program in community networks, industry forums, conferences, and webinars • Lead, coach, mentor, and manage direct reports and dotted-line sustainability professionals
• At least 7-10 years’ experience working in large, global, highly matrixed, and dynamic organization • Strong knowledge and understanding of global and industry sustainability trends, challenges and opportunities • Demonstrated experience building and scaling a corporate sustainability and ESG program and decarbonization strategy, including meaningful goals and KPIs • Ability to assess and translate sustainability frameworks, standards, regulations and other pressures/trends into business cases and corporate action plans, and secure division, business unit and leadership buy-in • Proven track record of successful cross-functional collaboration and leadership, ability to build consensus, and implementation of concurrent, complex strategic sustainability initiatives and programs • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders and representing the company in public forums and with executive leadership and the Board • Experience fostering and managing partnerships with private sector partners, NGOs, governments, and multilateral organizations • Familiarity with best-in-class sustainability, sourcing and procurement practices • Ability to analyze complex data and create internal controls to ensure data integrity • Experience managing external counsel, agencies and/or contractor support • Graduate level business, sustainability, engineering or law degree a plus • Certification in sustainability, corporate responsibility, project management or similar • Understanding of the Automotive and/or Consumer Electronics industry and manufacturing processes a plus • Willingness to travel up to 10%, domestically and internationally • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
