📋 Description

• Design and build distributed data systems, including APIs, schemas, and replication paths for durable, queryable petabytes of workflow history • Document design choices and operational knowledge for deploying and operating services • Own service-level objectives, create chaos-test plans, and profile performance-critical paths • Lead incident reviews • Break down roadmap epics and mentor mid-level engineers • Steward design documents through RFC • Partner with Server, Cloud, and DX teams to deliver features end-to-end • Own the custom persistence stack for Temporal Cloud, including a Write Ahead Log, metadata stores, multi-level caches, and tiered storage

🎯 Requirements

• 5 or more years of experience as an "Arranger" and/or "Builder/Enhancer" of highly scalable distributed systems • Solid computer science fundamentals in distributed systems concepts, including multi-threading and concurrency • Experience writing concurrent production code in Go, Java, or other applicable languages at a high end of Intermediate, Advanced, or Expert level • Experience building and running services on AWS • Microsoft Azure and Google GCP experience is a bonus • Prior contributions to Temporal, Cadence, or other workflow engines are nice to have • Deep expertise in a storage domain such as LSM trees, columnar stores, or transactional logs is nice to have • Experience operating multi-region services with at least 99.99% uptime is nice to have • Experience working with Open Source Systems is nice to have • Experience building Kubernetes controllers and/or CRDs is a plus
