📋 Description

• Follow up on accounts receivable activity and resolve patient accounts timely • Follow up on claim submissions and review remittances for insurance collections • Create and pursue disputed balances with government and non-government entities • Conduct collection-related telephone calls with payors and patients • Navigate multiple computer systems and payer websites to determine account actions • Document claim status and account actions in the patient accounting system • Maintain daily productivity and quality standards while managing collectible account inventory • Research accounts and contact third-party payors or patients by phone, email, or online • Update plan IDs and patient or payor demographic and insurance information • Identify payor issues and trends and resolve recoupment issues • Request additional information and documentation from patients, medical records, and other sources • Review contracts, identify billing or coding issues, and request rebills, secondary billing, or corrected bills • Open dispute records and escalate delayed payments or aged accounts to the Supervisor • Compile data to resolve payer, system, or escalated account issues • Assist with special projects and communicate findings to leaders • Train or assist new and existing staff to improve production and quality • Provide coverage for absent or backlogged team members • Attend meetings, training seminars, and in-services

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent education • 2-5 years experience in Medical/Hospital Insurance related collections • Minimum typing requirement of 45 wpm • Thorough understanding of the revenue cycle process from patient access through Patient Financial Services • Good written and verbal communication skills • Intermediate technical skills including PC and MS Outlook • Strong interpersonal skills • Above average analytical and critical thinking skills • Ability to make sound decisions • Full understanding of Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare and Medicaid collections • Intermediate knowledge of Managed Care contracts, contract language, and federal and state requirements for government payors • Advanced knowledge of UB-04 and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) interpretation • Intermediate knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 codes • Advanced knowledge of insurance billing, collections, and insurance terminology • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods • Must obtain and provide confirmation of required vaccinations and screenings, as applicable and permitted by law, before employment
