📋 Description

• Lead the global documentation localization program for medical device documentation • Mentor Localization Project Managers on localization best practices, project management methodology, and company culture • Create and execute concurrent, complex localization project plans • Maintain knowledge of medical device products, localization industries, regulatory standards, linguistic standards, and documentation standards • Revise and maintain documentation localization process documents • Create and maintain departmental policies and procedures • Identify localization projects, develop annual budgets, and establish project priorities with internal partners • Manage communications, expectations, and interactions with departments and strategic partners • Represent the department on cross-functional teams • Support project managers in defining quality and risk and resolving or escalating project issues • Lead language service provider relationship management, including quarterly business reviews • Manage linguist and reviewer resources, including recruitment, retention, and dismissal • Conduct post-project debriefs, track and share lessons learned, and drive improvements • Advise internal customers and strategic partners on localization and internationalization best practices • Administer content in a content management system • Work with XML/DITA, create output mechanisms, analyze system workflows, and suggest improvements • Manage translation memories and define related best practices • Advocate for early localization involvement and protect reasonable project timelines

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered • Minimum 4 years of project and people management experience • Minimum 3 years of experience in localization in a regulated environment • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills • Knowledge of project management disciplines, methodologies, and localization tools • Successful completion of global localization projects involving stakeholders from North America, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East, and Africa • Experience working with people of varying linguistic and cultural backgrounds • Experience with several different localization vendors • Proficient knowledge of project management disciplines, methodologies, and tools • Familiarity working in a content management system • Ability to independently lead and manage multiple large projects and project teams • Proficiency with computer-aided translation tools and other localization industry software and technologies • Ability to maintain frequent communications and interactions with language service providers, including selection, project specification, negotiation, and quality checks • Organizational, prioritization, and time management skills • Ability to integrate subject matter expertise to develop project plans • Ability to quickly identify and resolve conflict • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing • Knowledge and effective use of relevant software applications, including project management software such as Microsoft Project • Project management professional certification or equivalent strongly preferred • Localization project management certification preferred • Equivalent competency level acquired through a variation of these qualifications may be considered • Must complete pre-employment substance abuse testing and detailed background verification
