The Agency Fund is a philanthropic fund and initiative that conducts and supports research, development, and scaling of programs focused on human agency, social mobility, and development. It partners with nonprofits, policy organizations, academics, and industry to discover evidence-based interventions, accelerate organizations building agency-focused tools (including AI-enabled coaching), and mobilize funding and public knowledge for systemic impact. The fund prioritizes cost-effective pathways to reach large populations and influence policy, emphasizing data, evaluation, and scalable program design.

📋 Description

• Foster a culture of proactive problem-solving and initiative-taking • Build reference codebases for the social sector • Advise and support NGOs building generative AI products • Streamline data from different sources into a single source of truth for organizational analytics • Open-source non-trivial innovations from in-kind work • Create internal tools for experiments across digital services, including content, schedules, and nudges • Help organize workshops and seminars on research mindsets and personalized interventions • Conduct site visits to observe NGO operations and draft technical recommendations • Implement rapid development and deployment cycles • Mentor NGO staff on industry best practices, culture, and tooling

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience at tech and product-driven companies • Proficiency with TypeScript, React, and other web technologies • Proficiency with a backend language; the company uses Python • Experience proposing, designing, and running rigorous experiments with clear insights and product recommendations using R, SQL, or Python • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL • Proficiency in data engineering and integrating diverse data sources • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure • Interest in large language models (LLMs) and generative AI; direct experience is not required
