• Set up and administer Leave of Absence, Voluntary Disability, Paid Family Leave, Short Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability claims according to TRISTAR ICS protocols • Manage, track, and determine eligibility for job-protected federal, statutory, and employer-sponsored leaves, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and PLOA • Advise clients and staff on leave requirements, regulations, company benefits, and internal leave policies • Administer disability and paid family leave claims according to established procedures • Coordinate insured program coverage and administration with carriers • Maintain client and employee rapport to meet customer service goals • Administer check-cycle payments and procedures • Coordinate return-to-work efforts with claimants, providers, and clients • Answer telephone claim calls from claimants, clients, and carriers within 24 hours • Mentor and train staff and serve as a technical resource • Back up or fill in for the supervisor on administrative tasks • Perform other assigned duties
• High school diploma or GED (minimum) • 5+ years of prior Leave of Absence and/or related disability experience • One year of experience in an administrative office environment (preferred) • Ability to operate efficiently with minimal supervision • Ability to document files accurately • Thorough understanding of federal and statutory FMLA, CFRA, and PDL regulations • Ability to integrate leave programs with VDI, STD, and VDI benefits • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and web applications • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with employees, supervisors, and external providers • Ability to educate and counsel on sensitive and complex issues • Planning and organization skills for multitasking in a high-volume, fast-paced environment • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions • Understanding of disability plan documents, SOC, and ERISA guidelines • CPDM preferred • General knowledge of benefit taxability • Ability to maintain a consistent work schedule and punctuality • Ability to use computers, 10-key, copiers, printers, fax machines, postal meters, telephone switchboards, and other office equipment • Appropriate office attire
